A completely unique floor lamp, handcrafted from naturally formed holly and a substantial cherry wood base. No two could ever be the same.
The Holly Root Floor Lamp is a truly one-of-a-kind piece of functional natural sculpture, handcrafted by Made by Mason from carefully selected British timber.
At its heart is an extraordinary holly tree trunk, chosen specifically for its character rather than its uniformity. Instead of cutting away the irregularities that nature created, we've made them the centrepiece of the design.
At the top, the original root system has been retained, creating a dramatic sculptural crown of twists, branches and natural formations. Look a little closer and you'll discover even more character, including a hand-carved bird nestled amongst the timber.
The trunk rises from a substantial cherry wood log-slice base, with its beautiful growth rings, natural edge and dramatic split proudly left visible. Its weight gives the tall lamp a reassuringly solid foundation while providing another completely individual feature.
The removable natural rope-covered cable winds its way around the holly before passing through the root structure and suspending an antique brass-style lamp holder and warm vintage-style bulb. The cable arrangement complements the organic shape of the timber without overpowering it, and allows the owner to arrange this however they wish, creating another opportunity for unique design.
Switch it off and it's a piece of natural sculpture.
Switch it on and the warm light catches every knot, grain, curve and imperfection in the holly, bringing the whole piece to life.
Naturally one of a kind
The knots, splits, colour variations, root formations and other irregularities aren't defects—they are part of the history and character of the timber.
There will never be another lamp exactly like this one.
Thoughtful construction: The holly trunk is friction-fitted into the solid cherry wood base rather than permanently bonded. This preserves the natural character of the materials and allows the lamp to be carefully separated if required for maintenance or transportation, while remaining securely seated during normal use.
